Venture Into The Known

The April Grab Bag (07/04/24)

Hey, it's Venture, and I'm not really sure how to introduce this.

I got the itch to write a blog post, but I'm not really sure how to title it. Usually when it comes to these things I have a title that specifies the main topic of discussion but here, I don't really have anything specific; today's post is a bit of a grab bag. Grab bag here meaning "lots of little things sprinkled throughout" since when I last posted.

I've been preoccupied with a wave of schoolwork.

Luckily, Easter calmed the tsunami of homework I had been given for university, but pretty much damaged my work ethic a lot in return.

Have you ever had that sinking feeling where you're supposed to be relaxing and have reached pretty much all of your required deadlines, but still feel like you should be doing more work instead? I've had that feeling for the better part of the last week and it's damning how guilty I felt - which is weird, since I feel like I'm ahead of the curve when it comes to most, if not all, of my classes.

At least I've had a great payoff despite this guilt; a few assignments I've done have gotten amazing grades, and I'm feeling up-to pace with everything that's being thrown at me so far - the only class that's really starting to bug me is my programming class, and the bizarre way they grade my accessed tasks. But I digress.

My Soul Silver Shiny Hunt has made great waves!

After a whopping 6613 encounters after 24 days since the beginning of the hunt, I unfortunately didn't find myself a shiny Mareep. Instead, I picked up a green Ekans, who would evolve into a golden Arbok, which I decided to name Aurum after the Latin name for gold.

Coincidently, it also happened when I had my guard dropped checking out another thing on my computer, so that's one prediction out of the way.

My next hunt is a bit of a slog; headbutting trees in Azalea Town for a stunning pink Heracross! The other two encounters would be nice as well, although I'd prefer Aipom over Spearow any day of the week.

Album of the Blog - Truck Nuts

Album of the Blog this time is "Nature Tapes" by Lemon Demon (once again, Neil Cicierega slithers into this blog.) I bought this vinyl as soon as stocks came back up, and I wasn't disappointed in the quality; every song is a banger, although some bang more than others. The best song on the track is a toss-up between Really Cool Wig and Jaws.

But that's all I can really think to write about. Have a great week!
